In 1980, when Shawn Stüssy began selling T-shirts and caps with his scribbled signature to slackers and surfers from the trunk of his car in Laguna, California, he was unaware of the enormous influence he would come to have on the future genre of “streetwear”. Stüssy’s roots are in the surfer and skater scene as well as hip-hop and rasta culture. After 40 years at the cutting edge of streetwear, Stüssy is a firm fixture of the fashion world with his T-shirts and sweaters and his influence is undeniable.
